Pierce Conservation District's Annual Native Plant Sale is a nonprofit sale run by the Pierce Conservation District. They will have an abundance of native plants available for purchase during this sales event, as well as hosting local artists and non-profits like us. We are selling bat houses for this event. Due to limited quantities, we are bringing only pre-reserved bat houses. Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park Lakeside Lecture Bats Bats Bats
Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, welcome Bats Northwest Board member and biologist Bernice Tannebaum for a Lakeside Lecture about Bats of Northwest, bat boxes and luckily for anyone who attends this event, the incredible depth of Bernice bat knowledge. She was featured this summer in the Seattle Times. The event is a free indoor event but a donation gift is incurabed to help continue the great programming of the Friends of Lake Sammamish.

Women's Century Club “For the Love of Bats” Presentation
The Women’s Century Club Social Club is welcoming Bats’ Northwest President Niki Destautels as she tell about her work with Bats Northwest and bats.
Niki is a naturalist and educator focused on bat conservation and is the author of "For the Love of Bats," which will be published by Mountaineers Books in the fall of 2026.
Light lunch will be served at noon. Program begins at 12:30 p.m.
Lunch is complimentary for members. Suggested donation for lunch for guests is $10 per person. The program is free of charge.
WCC is a social club focused on women's history, the arts, community engagement and lifelong learning.They hold monthly meetings and frequent outings. New members welcome. Seattle AWIS: The Secret (and Not So Secret) Lives of Bats
Seattle AWIS is hosting a wonderful event with Bats Northwest’s Board President Niki Desautels, Abby Tobin, Bat Biologist, WDFW and Brianna Widner, Community Science Specialist at WPZ. This hybrid event will explore the remarkable world of these often-misunderstood mammals. This engaging event highlights the essential ecological roles bats play—from pollination to pest control—while dispelling common myths and showcasing cutting-edge research in bat biology and conservation. Attendees will gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity, intelligence, and surprising behaviors of bats, and learn how science is helping protect their future.

World Wetlands Day at the Mercer Slough
Come join Bats Northwest at Mercer Slough Nature Park’s World Wetland Day. This global event recognizing the significance of wetlands, including marshes, swamps, bogs, and mangroves. Areas that our extremely important to our Bats. This drop-in family friendly events features interactive activities, crafts and nature walks. Our booth will have family-friendly bat activities and we will share about our Bat efforts at the Slough.

Bats Northwest will have a table at Wildlife Watch on the UW Bothell/Cascadia College Campus, on Tuesday November 18 from 3:30pm–7pm at the ARC Overlook. This free public event is featuring over 10 other wildlife support groups and guest presenters. Talks start at 4:45pm . Stop by our table and learn about our different Northwest Bat species and how you can help in conservation and education of these amazing creatures.

Bat Count 2025: 30-min for science
This is less an event and more of a science challenge! Help us learn more about bats in the Pacific Northwest and celebrate International Bat Night 2025 by participating from home, or while you are out having fun over labor day weekend by joining us in 30-minutes for science! A thirty minute bat observation and count to contribute data to the Bat Activity Trends (B.A.T.) community science program.
End your summer right and get involved in science to protect bats. It’s so easy! Just follow these steps.
1) Go to zoo.org/batactivity to download our participation packet and read the project guidelines.
2) On August 30th, just before sunset, find a spot you can see clear sky
3) At sunset, watch for bat passess overhead
4) Keep a tally and submit your data after 30 minutes!
5) Know you made a difference for bats!!!

Join us for our Last Bat Talk of the summer! This is a informational bat talk so bring a chair and come learn about our local bat species and find out how you can help protect bats. The sun sets at 7:56pm so hopefully the Green Lake sky will have some bats flying above us. This program is free and open to everyone, no registration needed. Look for volunteers at the Seattle Public Theater Bath house near Green Lake’s or our Bats Northwest signage and table just northwest of the Bathhouse (this program lasts 1.5-2 hours depending on the weather and the bats). Please bring your own chairs, if you would like to sit during the event.

Beavers and Bats Nature Walk
Bats NW is teaming up with Beavers NW for this interactive evening walk at Juanita Bay Park. Beavers Northwest staff will lead attendees on a walk to explore the park and provide context on the beaver presence in this area. We will follow up with a Community Science for Bats activty!
The event will last approximately 2 hours and participants will travel a distance of approximately 0.5 miles on flat gravel trails and boardwalks. It’s recommended to wearing comfortable walking shoes and to dress for the weather. For best viewing of wildlife, we recommend bringing binoculars.
This event is free but must be register in advanced at Beavers Northwest.

The Bellevue Parks & Community Service’s are having us out for a Bat walk and presentation at Kelsey Creek Farm in Bellevue. Come discover bats and the importance they play in ecology. After dusk scan the sky above the farm and use a bat detector to see and hear the resident bats. Registration opens on April 7 at 12PM for this event, appropriate for teenager and adults.

Wenatchee River Institute Bat Night with WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
Bats Northwest is heading to Eastern WA, for a wonderful family friendly Bat Educational event with the Wenatchee River Institute, WA Dept. Fish and Wildlife and Happy Valley Bats. Come join us in Leavenworth for a bat talk to learn all about bats, their importance, and what we can do to support these animals. The team will be highlight conservation actions you can take; from participating in community science, to making bat houses and improving bat habitat where you live.
Learn about how mist-nets are used by biologists to capture bats in the field, listen for bats with wildlife acoustic technology, learn about bat rescue and rehab, and much more! WDFW biologists will set up some demonstration research stations for participants to see the tools used for bat research. We are providing educational resources and activities.
NCW Woodshop, out of Cashmere will be at Bat Night to show off the Bat Boxes and how they work for bats.
No live Bats will be capture live bats this year due to the dangers of White Nose Syndrome to our local bats.
Age Limit: 8+ years old
Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration for this event is required through Wenatchee River Institute but cost is Pay What You Can.

Bats Northwest will have a booth at Snohomish County WSU Master Gardeners Nature Day on Saturday, June 21 from 10 am–2 pm at Willis D. Tucker Community Park. Come learn about our different Northwest Bat species. The Event its self is sharing information about native plants, pollinators, soil health, and more.
