Bat Count 2025: 30-min for science

This is less an event and more of a science challenge! Help us learn more about bats in the Pacific Northwest and celebrate International Bat Night 2025 by participating from home, or while you are out having fun over labor day weekend by joining us in 30-minutes for science! A thirty minute bat observation and count to contribute data to the Bat Activity Trends (B.A.T.) community science program.

End your summer right and get involved in science to protect bats. It’s so easy! Just follow these steps.

1) Go to zoo.org/batactivity to download our participation packet and read the project guidelines.
2) On August 30th, just before sunset, find a spot you can see clear sky
3) At sunset, watch for bat passess overhead
4) Keep a tally and submit your data after 30 minutes!
5) Know you made a difference for bats!!!
