Bats and their Urban Ecology
February 9, 2012 7pm-9pm
Chris Anderson of the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife will give a presentation entitled, "Bats and their Urban Ecology," on Thursday, February 9, from 7 to 9 pm at the Mountaineer Clubhouse, 7700 Sand Point Way NE. The presentation, sponsored by the Mountaineer Naturalists Study Group, is open to the public; admission is $5.
Did you know bats can live 35 years or more? Washington is home to 15 bat species and 12 are found west of the Cascades. They're not out to drink your blood, but they will eat their share of insects. Important to our state's economy, especially for apple orchards, bats munch on destructive moths.
Learn about the fragile existence of these flying mammals and how you can
help them survive when state wildlife biologist Christopher Anderson talks
about "Bats and their Urban Ecology" on February 9.
Bats Northwest on the Radio
Bats Northwest members Curt Black and Barbara Ogaard are featured on a KUOW program on bats Thursday, May 22, 2008.
